I've never had battery hearing aids but I like my rechargeable ones (Phonak Infinio Sphere). I just have to remember to charge the portable case every few days. I bring my case with me everywhere and I hardly ever forget it. If it's a desktop…

charger, that's still convenient because you can just plop them in overnight. I do recommend getting a portable charging case if your model offers one because it makes travelling with your hearing aids much more convenient, or for getting a top up charge if you're running low on power.

Just remember that if the battery quality starts going down over the next few years, as all batteries experience, you should get the batteries replaced before your warranty is up just to prolong the life of your aids before your next pair. What's offered with your warranty may vary depending on your provider so make sure to find out for certain.

Charger warranty is typically much shorter than your hearing aid warranty so just be aware of that in case your charger needs to be repaired or replaced.

My prior Phonaks were pretty good. My new ones are superb. Excellent battery life, strong Bluetooth connectivity, and the AI processing does so much self-adjusting that I don’t have to fiddle with special settings. Maybe get your supplier to give you…

a significant price break on their top-of-the-line model.

I have Phonak hearing aids. I regularly use the Bluetooth option. It lasts me from 7am to 10pm so pretty much all day, even when using the Bluetooth. I can't think of any inconveniences for me at the moment, has them for 4 years.

u/AnotherDarnDay2 months agoPositive

I get a new hearing aid every 5 years and theyre always phonak. I have zero issues. Ive been wearing hearing aids for 30+ years and each one has been phonak without issues, the technology just gets better.

u/NorCalMikey9 months agoPositive

I have Phonak rechargeables that are 5 years old. I charge them overnight. Put them in at 7 am take them out around 10 pm. I have never run out of power in this time.

u/AgreeableDelivery4962 months agoPositive

I’m on my 2nd pair of Phonaks over 6 years total - both sets have been fantastic. I’ve had to warranty repair only a couple times. Everyone’s different

u/ecvike2 months agoPositive

My phonak i90 spheres have changed my life. I had jabra otc before… these phonaks are awesome and I wouldn’t buy any others as of now

u/senderPath3 months agoPositive

I tried both Oticon’s and Phonaks. The Phonaks worked much better for me so I bought them and I’m happy with them.

I got my first pair of hearing aids earlier this year and went with the Oticon Intent 1’s. They are rechargeable. I haven’t had any issue with them at all and I typically wear them anywhere from 15-18 hours a day.

I typically work 12 hours so I have…

item in at least 15-16 hours with a lot of that streaming music or books while I’m at work.

I come home with 20-30 percent wearing them that long and have I only had them run out onnce after wearing them extra long. I work midnights and sometimes if I have a meeting at my kids school during the day I will put them in and the wear try em all night long while working.

I’ve never had the battery hearing aids but am loving the rechargeable and like others have said you can get a quick top off with a half hour or hour charge.

u/DownInBerlin2 months agoPositive

I went from oticons with disposable batteries to rechargeable oticons. I had concerns because i was worried i would get caught without hearing aids if the rechargeable battery ran out.

But the rechargeables are so much better. They really do last…

all day easily (with normal usage). They’re easy to recharge. There is no pop out battery tray that frankly was a weak point in the old hearing aids. One less way for water to get inside.

If I spend a day at home and literally stream movies all day, with bluetooth to my hearing aids, I might run out of battery in the evening. If so, a quick ten minute top up in the charger and I’m good to go.

u/jon_taylor10 months agoPositive

Rechargeable is working fine for me. My Oticon Intents go in first thing in the morning and are used all day. 30-40% charge remains when I go to bed. Popped in to the charger and all good for the next day.

They also came with a smart travel charger…

which has a battery in it and which I use when travelling. This gives me lots of flexibility if I can’t easily get to a mains charger, and also has a lid to protect the aids if necessary.

u/conndor849 months agoPositive

My Oticon intent get 25hours (including some streaming) and they’re 1.5 years old.

I went to Oticon after I tried the previous Phonak model which gave me 18hours at most. Know they’ve done some battery improvements but was surprised to read you say…

30 (know that’s without the sphere feature on)

u/Regular-Bat-44492 months agoPositive

My Oticon OPN 1 were replaceable batteries, I purchased the rechargeable kit for them. I get 22-24 hrs per charge. The batteries themselves last 4 years. I just did my second battery replacement.

I'll never go back to disposable batteries.

u/QuadraMum1 year agoPositive

I’m on my third set of OTICON HA’s and my current set is rechargeable and THEY ARE THE BEST! The charge lasts up to 15 hours and that’s with me using the tv sound converter box via Bluetooth and/or listening to music. ♥️👍🏼🤩

u/External_Local160610 months agoPositive

Rechargeable. I wear Oticon Intents about 15+ hours/day. Have not come close to needing a charge during that time. Every night when I put my phone in the charger, my HA’s go in their charger too.

u/SierraTRK10 months agoPositive

I have the Oticon ones and they were a night and day difference!

Have had my Phillips 9050s for almost a year. I didn’t need much adjustment or programming and after getting used to them, they just work. I say they are very worth the money. One of the best features is that they connect to my iPhone for not only…

calls but for podcasts and music. I have to say the music is not as good on the open-dome aids as it was in the noise cancelling AirPods Pro, but certainly very functional.

Costco is your best bet for $1599-$1699 premium HA better than any OTC I have seen. Definitely worth the drive but remember you will need several visits. Testing, ordering, programing and a few to tune. You have a choice of 4 HA. I use Philips 9050…

Just want to say I have tiny ears and tiny ear canals- anyone who looks at my ears mentions it. Anyway, I have the Phillips ones from Costco and unless I bend over and my head is completely upside down, they stay in great.

u/ModernMargaretSanger7 days agoPositive

Definitely go to Costco to get checked out. They have amazing people who can test you and a great selection of hearing aids plus a 180 day (6mos) return policy. I just got mine about 6 weeks ago and have been very happy

u/Loud-Cardiologist1843 months agoPositive

Agree. On second pair from Costco. Tried some over the counter internet brand in 2022, and they were junk. Could hear better with my own ears. Fortunately I was able to get a full refund.

u/nardixbici2 months agoPositive

I have HA from Costco (Jabra) and the sound is not like a microphone at all. Ask them to set it up correctly or change model.

I used Amplifon hearing aid for a few years. It costs more than $5000 and it’s mid range model. Most expensive one was more than $10000. Now I no longer use it and completely moved to airpod pro. It’s hearing aid quality is almost same as Amplifon…

and gives perfect call & music quality. I highly recommend AirPod as hearing aid if you don’t have serious hearing issue.

u/NoEvidence653614 days agoPositive

I’ve been using AirPods Pro 3 for a while and they help me to hear much better but…I’ve never used genuine hearing aids so can’t compare. They are cheap enough for you to try and if they’re not good enough then you still a nice pair of earbuds.

u/cluelesswonderless4 months agoPositive

I used my AirPod Pro2s as interim hearing aids for a couple of months and they are close to magical. Not loud enough for me, but compared to nothing they are brilliant. I wear a single Widex now and that’s a huge step up for me.

u/xrv014 months agoPositive

everyone’s setup is different. i’m lucky that my HA’s work perfectly ever since I got them recalibrated.. that being said, my airpods are like 80% of my HA. it’s absolutely mind blowing how well the airpods get the job done

u/No_Comedian29913 months agoPositive

I use AirPods and they work very well! I refuse to pay 5k, and with these, I don’t have to worry about that.

u/Jim-bythesound4 months agoPositive

I use the AirPod 2 Pro as my hearing aid. Works better than my $1500 ReSound.

u/Shon_t14 days agoNegative

My actual hearing aids are far more comfortable, far superior when used as hearing aids, and the batteries last far longer as well (20 hours between charges vs 6 hours). I’ve also found that my regular hearing aids are far better for use with instant…

live translation software (Google Translate)when traveling vs the Apple live translation software which is a major selling point. They are also far less conspicuous, practically invisible.

My AirPod Pro 3s are far better headphones. The noise cancellation is fantastic, audio is deep and rich. They also work in a pinch as hearing aids. On long hall flights I will remove and store my hearing aids.

I use both, each has their purpose, but there is really no comparison between the two when it comes to use as hearing aids.

u/July_is_cool5 months agoNegative

I got AirPods with HA feature. Compared to regular hearing aids: - MUCH cheaper, $250 vs $1500+ - Integrate with iPhone - Strong noise cancelling - Not great as HA for most situations. Music, conversations, own-voice - No wind cancellation - They…

fall out easily, you must get the foam domes but they still need lots of management - Battery time is short, four hours roughly My ten year old Phonak BTE HAs are better.

I have rechargeable resound nexias. I love them. I don’t typically stream through them and they last all day no problem. The charge box is small enough to take in my work bag without it being annoying.

I do take the charge box with me most places in…

a bag or pocket, sometimes they don’t turn on if they weren’t seated correctly in the box overnight and you have to put them back in it until the charge light comes on and then take them back out again to start them up.

u/sf-keto9 months agoPositive

I only charge my ReSound Vivia 9s at night. I wear them 12-16 hours a day, keeping them in AI mode the entire time. And like most people, I’m streaming the majority of the day on Zoom calls etc.

At no time so far have they gone below 25-50% of…

power. So I just don’t have any “range anxiety” at all.

The specs say they are good for 30 hours, which fits with my experience.

u/AussyGuy2 months agoPositive

I am using the resound rechargeable hearing aid and find them good. I get up to 30hrs off a charge (depending on streaming) tue case hold three full charges when not connected to mains power. It means I can charge on the go if I am travelling and I…

My Nexia ReSound go in my ears around 5:30-6:00am. Around 9:00 pm they ping in my ear to say they need charging and will let me know until I go to bed. Then they go in the charger until the morning. I feel they lasted a little longer when I first got…

them, this is after two years of use.

u/classicicedtea10 months agoPositive

I currently have rechargeable with no issues but I haven’t lost my charger and it hasn’t died on me, which I’ve seen posted on here. You could get a second one but they run about $250 I think.

For reference I have ReSound Linx.

u/YramAL9 months agoPositive

I have ReSounds. The only time I got the low battery warning was when I accidentally left them in the “speech in” setting for most of the day. I had changed them to that while in a restaurant and forgot to change them back.

u/lilshark704 months agoNegative

I have some of the same issues. I cannot understand anything being said in large venues, noisy environments, etc. It is extremely frustrating. I paid a lot for these Resound Vivia 9s in hopes they would work well in all environments. Sadly, that is…

not the case

u/Pats_Pot_Page3 months agoNegative

I went with the Phonak because I need to connect to multiple devices. The Resound didn't have a stable connection. It kept dropping out and disconnecting phone calls. I think it's important to evaluate one's priorities when making the decision.

I've the Starkey Omega AI 24 and go 8-10hrs mixed streaming meetings and Spotify while I work. I have yet to see the battery go below 70%. I'll have to test how long they can go without a recharge. I usually put them in the case at night to eliminate…

the risk of my cat chewing on them.... It hasn't happened but I don't trust her.

u/Yes_I_Know_Lots9 months agoPositive

My Starkeys have never gone dead on me, though I’m religious about putting them on the charger when not wearing. I’ve had them for 1.5 years and love them. My Apple AirPods are just the opposite: dead during a day of listening for maybe 8 hours?…

Knockoffs last forever.

u/Much-Egg-83539 months agoPositive

Only once….when I go to bed. Average about 16 hrs/day wearing them. They have never ran out of a charge. Starkey edge 2400 ai rechargeable. If your hearing aid can’t hold a charge for 18 hrs then you should replace them.

u/Consistent-Drive25612 months agoPositive

I got a Starkey Omega 24 AI new on eBay and had it programmed; it cost me $1,400 on eBay. Never have a problem With them, they work great Never had a problem with them
